According to Dr. Woody’s article on Fox Business.com, there are two types of career decision makers: Sacrifice and Max.

“Satisficers are used to jump on the first option which meets their minimum set criteria which they are searching for, while the maximum searchers are more complete in their search, take advantage of as many options as possible before making a decision. Even if they spend more time in searching for options, the maximum interval is less satisfying than those options they ultimately do. ”

Are you one of those professionals who spend a lot of time thinking and acting not enough time?

Follow these three tips from Dr Woody to make better career decisions that stick your career right on the right path:

  1. Keep it Real:

The job market is tough, which means that finding the ideal opportunity will not be easy. The fact is that you need to understand the reality of being available and adjust your expectations accordingly. The more realistic you are with your expectations, the more likely it is that you will be satisfied with your choice.

  1. Become the Breakthrough:

Set some time parameters around your decision. The more decision-making process, the more worry it can be. It may also be helpful to understand that being decisive does not necessarily constrain the decision. Career decisions are not final and you can always make changes later. In today’s environment, changing careers is not uncommon, and certainly it does not happen as it was.

  1. Make your decisions:

Focus on the positive benefits of your choices in opposing paying attention to the estimated opportunities not to go with any one of the alternatives. In other words, focus on positive and think ahead.
