Here’s our quick guide to preparing your best exit strategies to quit your next professional with your dignity and networking contacts:

  1. Notice

The conventional two-week notice is still encouraged by anyone to leave their current work. If you want to spend more than two weeks, then it is fantastic, but otherwise, two weeks is standard. Inform your immediate supervisor (s) and then immediate colleagues of your departure.

  1. Who to say, and when

It is important to make sure that your immediate supervisor can not go through the grapes before and through you. Depending on your industry, you may want to tell them the day before planning to start a two-week notice, and in others, you can tell as much time as you like them.

It really depends on your relationship with your boss and the nature of your work. To determine what is best, you really have to feel your position. Once your supervisors have been notified, it is usually acceptable to tell your employees.

  1. Explaining colleagues before the boss

Occasionally it is impossible to realize its exit strategy without the slightest support from “Inner”. If you need your advice on giving your notice, then only tell one or two very close, very trusty colleagues. It can be beneficial to consult a person who knows the style of your boss or knows the company’s culture well, so you know about moving forward.

But if you are just telling colleagues because you are excited to leave, then wait until your boss is told. Otherwise, rumor mill can beat you.

  1. Transitional assistance offer

Before leaving, should you offer to help you train your replacement, or should you help in your team transition in your life without work? It is always appreciated by both new rent and your current owner. You do not have to stay completely with the purpose of training a new person, but if you have time and inclination, then it can be a great way to leave a positive note and set the tone for your connection with your boss. Have you gone then

  1. Overtime work to finish your projects

Should you be forced to work late or weekend to complete your work? If you have overdue projects that are already supposed to happen, or those with whom you have a unique perspective, then dedicate your entire time equally as much as you are comfortable in eliminating them.

But no, if the projects are moving ahead on the target and there are other people associated with them, then it is not necessary to work on weekends to stay late or to finish them before work. Just make sure you update your team mate and boss as the status of your project, and connect any of your contact with the person who will work after you leave.

  1. Once you have gone, be available

Once you officially come to work for a job, should it be really accessible if your old boss or team has unexpected questions? During a very good professional courtesy, it is not necessary. If you want to provide your contact information for future follow-up, this is a very good gesture that will be appreciated, but it does not make any sense.

The time limit should really be for only a few weeks. Nothing more than a month is taking advantage of your kindness.

Leaving a job comes on: What you should know about leaving a learning job in kindergarten (this is what it is saying, right?). Be kind, be courteous, and be available. But do not be a pushover.
